Woman Left Holding Bag --Minus Her $50,000

A Lawndale businesswoman claimed she lost $50,000 to two “healers” who offered to cleanse her dirty money and forestall ill fortune, authorities said Friday.
Two women posing as healers approached the woman at a nail salon Tuesday and told her something terrible was about to happen, Deputy Albert Ortiz said. They persuaded the woman that her imminent bad luck was the result of “dirty money” and offered a cleansing ritual in which the woman placed $50,000 and a ring worth $9,000 in a black bag, Ortiz said.
After performing an incantation, the healers left the woman holding the bag. When she opened the bag, the woman found only plain paper. Ortiz said it was the third swindle of that type in a month.
