How to Get to Carmona

Share

Carmona is on National Road IV, situated between Seville (21 miles to the south and west) and Cordoba, 65 miles northeast. There is no rail connection, but buses run from Seville hourly. Although cars are easy to rent, they are expensive.

Carmona is devoid of typical fast-food and souvenir tourist stores, but has ceramic and antique shops just outside the gates of the Moorish alcazar in the newer part of town.

In this area, a few small tascas serve drinks and cafe meals, and tapas are served at the bar. There are also some inexpensive fondas (inns) in the same area, near the bus station.

The parador Alcazar del Rey Don Pedro accepts major credit cards. Rooms are 10,500 pesetas (about $90 U.S. a night) and should be booked in advance.

The restaurant features Andalusian specialties served by waitresses in regional costume. It’s excellent.

Accommodations for Carmona can be arranged in the United States by NIC Tours at (415) 871-6680. NIC Tours also can provide a list of all paradors in the Spanish chain.
