In the latest of a rash of gang-related homicides, a 17-year-old Stanton youth was fatally shot in the parking lot of a small shopping center in Garden Grove, police said today.
Patrol officers discovered the body of Rosendo Ibarra in the 9300 block of Katella Avenue around 11:20 p.m. Monday, shortly after responding to a 911 call.
Ibarra was shot in the head, police said.
A Garden Grove police spokesman said no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
The shooting brings this year’s number of gang-related homicides in Orange County to a record 17, one more than the number reported for all of 1989.
It was also the fifth gang-related homicide for Garden Grove in 1990, compared to four last year.
