‘Goodby, Dahling,’ Dreyer’s Ice Cream Informs Zsa Zsa
Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream today said ta-ta to Zsa Zsa Gabor, disclosing that it has discontinued airing a commercial featuring the actress who slapped the Beverly Hills cop.
The ad, which bills Gabor as an “Unbelievable Spokesperson for an Unbelievable Product,” was one of a series of new commercials for the company’s Dreyer’s Grand Light product.
“The ad campaign features spokespersons known for their ‘unbelievable’ experiences or reputations promoting our ‘unbelievably’ good product,’ ” said Steven Schickler, vice president of marketing for Dreyer’s.
Schickler said that although Gabor’s spot was meant to be humorous, Dreyer had received more than 300 complaints since announcing that the actress would film a commercial for the company. The ad began airing in Dreyer’s major markets three weeks ago.
