Former First Lady Nancy Reagan will be honored tonight by California Lutheran University for her role in combating drug abuse.

Reagan will receive the Landry Medal for her work in the “Just Say No” campaign, said Dennis Gillette, a vice president of the university, situated in Thousand Oaks. The medal is named after Tom Landry, former head coach of the Dallas Cowboys professional football team.

The award, established by the university in 1980, is given annually to those deemed to be an inspiration to the nation’s youth, Gillette said. Past recipients include cartoonist Charles Schultz and comedian Bob Hope.
