Iran Raids Drug Convoys, Kills Dozens, Radio Says

NICOSIA, Cyprus —
Iranian police backed by army helicopters attacked four drug convoys in Iran’s southern mountains, killing dozens of smugglers, Tehran Radio said Wednesday.
The police fought the traffickers for 50 hours south of the provincial capital of Kerman and seized firearms, 950 pounds of opium and 20,000 bullets.
