Culver City : Kindergarten Registration

Share

Kindergarten registration for the 1990-91 school year begins this month in the Culver City Unified School District.

Children must have been born on or before Dec. 2, 1985--at least 4 years and 9 months old as of September 1, 1990--to enter kindergarten. California law requires that they be immunized against polio, measles, diphtheria, tetanus, mumps, whooping cough and rubella, and must have been tested for tuberculosis. Parents or guardians can register at their neighborhood elementary school and should bring proof of the child’s date of birth and proof of residence in the district, such as a utility bill.

Besides regular kindergarten, the district also has a special developmental kindergarten that caters to children who may be younger than other kindergartners or may not yet have developed their hand-eye coordination or other motor skills as well as their peers. Children who do not speak Spanish are eligible for the Spanish Immersion Program at El Rincon School, which offers instruction in Spanish.
