Beverly Hills : Students to Take Over City
The Beverly Hills city government is being taken over--for a day, that is. Seventeen local high school students will become honorary elected officials and department heads Wednesday as part of Youth in Government Day. All wrote winning essays on an issue of local government. On hand to be congratulated by Mayor Allan Alexander at Tuesday’s council meeting was his “replacement,” Norah Gottfried. Joining them were Matt Kamin, who will serve as city manager; Peppi Rein, who will be director of public services; Matt Brooks, who will direct the Department of Parks and Recreation, and Danielle Monosson, who will act as director of planning and development.
