Trainer Robert Lake has been suspended for 60 days by the New York State Racing and Wagering Board because two of his horses tested positive for a banned substance after races on the same day last month.
Lasix, a diuretic barred in New York but approved by some states for treating bleeding problems, was found in Jupiter Inlet and Think Double on April 10, the board said.
“In 40 years of training, with more than 800 winners, I’ve never been accused of anything like this,” Lake said. “I’ve never had a bad test and I’m 100% innocent. Somebody was out to get me.
