THE SIDELINES : Pierre Page Going to Nordiques
Pierre Page, head coach of the Minnesota North Stars, was named general manager of the Quebec Nordiques today.
Page replaces Maurice Filion, who was hired on an interim basis last Feb. 2 when Martin Madden was fired.
Page, a 40-year-old Quebec native who coached the North Stars for two seasons, takes over a franchise that has missed the playoffs for three consecutive years and finished with just 12 victories in 80 games last season.
One of the Page’s first decisions will be whether to keep Michel Bergeron as coach.
