Decision That Is Protecting Dolphins Shows That One Individual Can Make a Difference

The announcement by the three largest U.S. tuna canners that they would no longer buy or sell tuna caught using methods that kill or injure dolphins (“U.S. Tuna Fishermen Fear Decision May Be Final Blow,” April 14) has been in the making for a long time since those “in the know” realize that nets are deadly effective in stripping our oceans of everything that swims. Simply said, it comes under the heading of “greed.”

To speed up the recovery of our fisheries worldwide, all nets should be banned except those used for live bait.
