CYCLING TOUR DE TRUMP : U.S. Amateur Reiss Wins 5th Stage
Amateur Nate Reiss of Boulder, Colo., riding the longest race of his life, sprinted away from two professionals with 50 yards remaining Sunday to win the fifth stage of the Tour de Trump.
Reiss, 26, negotiated the mountainous 145.5-mile Richmond-to-Charlottesville Road Race in 5 hours 57 minutes 35 seconds.
Norwegian Atle Kvalsvoll was second, with Raul Alcala of Mexico third.
Overall leader Viatcheslav Bobrik, an amateur from the Soviet Union, was 17th, 13 seconds back. He holds a 2:43 margin over Alcala and a 2:59 lead over Steve Bauer of Canada.
