Man at Fire Scene Accused of Arson
Police Saturday arrested a 30-year-old man who was watching a house burn and jailed him on suspicion of setting the $100,000 blaze.
Officers said no one was in the house in the 900 block of Arnold Drive when the fire started sometime before 11:30 a.m. Before county firefighters could douse the flames, the 1,000-square-foot, single-story house had been virtually destroyed, a department spokeswoman said.
Police identified the suspect as Louis Martinez, whom they said lived in the house but did not own it. They declined to say who else lived in the house.
Officers said Martinez was being held on suspicion of arson resulting in property damage.
