Seminars for Rental Owners at Expo ’90

Six seminars geared to the needs of apartment owners will be held in conjunction with the Apartment Owners Expo ’90 Saturday and next Sunday9 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. next Sunday, the expo will feature more than 110 exhibitors in products, services and technology in the multifamily housing field.

Leading off the seminars at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Duane Gomer will present “Property Management Techniques for the 90s: How to Maximize Profit.” Those wishing to take the test to receive three hours of Department of Real Estate continuing education credit should bring $10, a driver’s license and a real estate license.

Attorneys Dennis Block and Frank Rubin will present a 1 p.m. Saturday seminar on legal issues facing apartment owners. At 3 p.m. Saturday, economist and author John Kamin will discuss speculating in distressed properties.

Barbara Zeidman, head of the Los Angeles City Rent Stabilization Division, will describe recent changes in the city’s rent control law at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Attorney Maria Bezaire will describe methods of holding title to property, avoiding estate taxes and protecting your investments at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Michael N. Silver, a specialist in real estate taxation, will discuss tax strategies at the final seminar at 3 p.m. Sunday.
