The Portland-based band Dan Reed Network has been chosen to open this summer’s European shows for the Rolling Stones.

The tour begins July 13 and 14 in London and ends Aug. 9 in Copenhagen. All of the shows are slated for stadiums with capacities of 40,000 to 80,000 people.

“There is no limitation to what you can do in rock ‘n’ roll,” bandleader Dan Reed said this week. “It’s very much a surreal feeling. I don’t think it will hit me until I hit the stage.”

Reed said the legendary Stones’ singer, Mick Jagger, picked the Portland band for the tour.

The Dan Reed Network is slated to go into the studio in June to record its third album for PolyGram Records. Reed plans to produce the album himself.

Besides London and Copenhagen, the tour will stop in Dublin, Ireland; Manchester, England; Rome; Turin, Italy; Vienna; Gothenberg, Sweden, and Oslo.
