Pruner Ambulance Co.’s fourth ambulance station in eastern Ventura County, where it has a county contract to answer emergency calls, opens today to serve Moorpark.
The station at 2201 Olsen Road is expected to answer about 40 calls a month, company owner Don Pruner said Monday.
The company has provided Moorpark with emergency ambulance service through stations in Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley and Camarillo. Ambulances respond to more than 5,000 calls each year from the Thousand Oaks station and more than 4,000 from Simi Valley.
The new station, which is within two miles of Moorpark, is expected to trim three minutes off the average response time of 11 minutes, Pruner said.
