THE SIDELINES : Soviets to Play Soccer in Israel

TEL AVIV — The Soviet Union will play Israel in Tel Aviv on Wednesday in a World Cup soccer warm-up that should interest diplomats and football fans alike.
The Soviet team has not played a soccer match in the Jewish state since 1956, and the visit is another step forward in a gradual thaw that has allowed a large exodus of Soviet Jews to go to Israel.
