SIDELINES : Houston Releases Jerry Reuss
The Houston Astros today released veteran left-hander Jerry Reuss from their Triple A farm club in Tucson.
Reuss, 40, had no record and a 15.19 earned-run average in five games for the Toros. In 5 1/3innings he allowed 18 hits and 14 runs, nine of them earned.
Reuss has a career record of 220-191 with eight teams. He won 18 games in 1975 with the Pittsburgh Pirates and again in 1982 with the Dodgers.
Last season he was 9-9 with a 5.13 ERA with the Chicago White Sox and Milwaukee Brewers. He signed a minor-league contract with the Astros after the Brewers released him on Nov. 8.
