Loren Zachary Vocal Competition Winners

Baritone Yu Chen and tenor Frederic Kalt won the top awards at the 18th annual Loren L. Zachary Society National Vocal Competition at Ambassador Auditorium, recently. Both received a roundtrip flight to Europe plus $3,500 in cash.

Other winners were soprano Young Ok Shin, $3,500; bass-baritone John Hancock, $3,000; baritone Earle Patriaco, $2,500, and soprano Michele Patzakis, $2,300.

Four other finalists won $1,000 apiece.
