Raisa Gorbachev will join Barbara Bush in addressing the graduating class at Wellesley College on June 1, the White House announced.

“Mrs. Bush and Mrs. Gorbachev will both deliver remarks to the graduating class,” the First Lady’s press office said. The graduation will take place while their husbands meet in Washington.

About 150 students at the Massachusetts college had signed a petition questioning the choice of Barbara Bush as a speaker, saying her prominence was based on whom she married.
