The Southwest Conference said it will uphold its one-game suspension of Texas basketball Coach Tom Penders, despite Penders’ appeal.

Penders was suspended on April 9 after criticizing the officiating in the SWC during and after the Longhorns’ loss to Houston in the conference tournament. The suspension means that Penders will be forced to miss the Jan. 2 conference opener against Texas A&M.;
