UC Irvine Men’s Tennis to Begin NCAA Play
UC Irvine’s men’s tennis team makes its fifth appearance in the NCAA championships today, opening with a match against West Virginia at 4 p.m. at the Grand Champions Resort in Indian Wells.
Irvine, ranked 19th, is one of eight teams playing preliminary matches today. The top 14 teams in the 22-team field received byes.
If the Anteaters win today, they will play top-seeded Tennessee Saturday.
Tennessee (31-0) is followed by UCLA, Stanford, Georgia, Pepperdine and California
Team competition continues through Tuesday, with individual singles and doubles competition scheduled for Wednesday through May 27.
