Lichti Has Surgery on Broken Right Foot
Guard Todd Lichti of the Denver Nuggets was in stable condition Friday after surgery on his right foot, which was broken during a one-car accident Thursday that killed his girlfriend.
Nugget medical personnel said Lichti was running a slight fever, but was in stable condition. Doctors have not ruled out further surgery.
Lichti, 23, had the surgery at Rose Memorial Hospital in Denver, where he was flown from a hospital in Nevada.
Lichti’s mother, Ora Lichti, said his emotional state has suffered because of the death of his girlfriend, Kristin Gravrock, 23, of Bellevue, Wash.
The two had left Denver Wednesday to drive to Concord, Calif., to meet Lichti’s parents. The Nevada Highway Patrol said Gravrock, who was driving at the time, apparently fell asleep. The car went off the highway and overturned near Lovelock, Nev.
Lichti, a former Stanford star, was the Nuggets’ first-round pick in the 1989 NBA draft.
