Debbie Dickmann and Lisa Erickson of Cal State Northridge have been named to the All-NCAA Division II women’s softball team.

Both seniors were first-team selections in voting by the National Softball Coaches Assn.

Dickmann becomes the first Lady Matador player to be named to the first team four times.

Pitcher Kathy Slaten was a first-team selection for Northridge from 1984-86 after being named to the second team in 1983.

This is the second year in a row that Erickson has been named to the first team.

Dickmann is 27-7 with an 0.64 earned-run average, has struck out 174 batters and has walked 35 in 241 1/3 innings this season.

Center fielder Erickson, who is six for 12 with four runs scored in postseason play, is batting .382 with a team-high 41 runs and 45 stolen bases.

The day his Moorpark College season ended, Mike Suarez began another chapter of his career by signing a letter of intent to play baseball at Arizona on a partial scholarship.

A second baseman at Moorpark, Suarez expects to play third at Arizona, which he said was his top college choice.

His scholarship is contingent on his earning an Associate of Arts degree, for which he needs two summer-school courses.

Suarez hit seven home runs to set a Moorpark single-season record, and during the regular season he led the team in runs batted in (36) and in doubles (11).

John Swanson, a sophomore center fielder from Oxnard College, has signed a letter of intent with Oklahoma State for a partial scholarship.

Swanson, from Rio Mesa High, batted .376 with 15 doubles and led Oxnard with six home runs and 15 stolen bases.

Steve Giacoma of Notre Dame High and Rick Mekemson of Camarillo High have verbally committed to play soccer next season for Occidental.

Giacoma, a midfielder, was an All-Southern Section pick last year.

Mekemson, a fullback, was the Marmonte League defensive Player of the Year last season.
