SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Gregg Ryan of Moorpark rode his 250cc Quad to two heat victories in the Ventura Motocross series at Ventura Raceway on Saturday night.

Ryan had an easy victory in his first heat, but he achieved his second victory by pressing Todd Langness of Thousand Oaks into a maneuvering error. With Ryan on Langness’ tail, both riders came off a double jump together. However, Langness could not make the turn, allowing Ryan to take his second four-lap victory.

Josh Huber of Moorpark and Alan Sharon of Oak View each won another 250cc Quad race.

Vern DeCosta of Oxnard, one of the top riders in the 250cc Quads, suffered a broken collarbone when he flipped his Quad during Ryan’s second victorious heat.
