THOUSAND OAKS : Boy Scouts Sought for Seoul Jamboree
A Thousand Oaks resident is recruiting Boy Scouts to attend an international conference in Seoul, South Korea, next summer.
Mel Krone, 48, is looking for men and boys willing to spend $3,000 to $5,000 to attend the 17th World Scout Jamboree Aug. 8 to 16, 1991.
The Jamboree is held every four years so scouts from all over the world can “go and have fun,” said Krone, a member of the county Boy Scout council.
About 12 people from Ventura County usually go to each Jamboree, Krone said.
This year’s Jamboree theme is “Many Lands, One World,” and will attract about 15,000 youths and adults, Krone said.
Krone, who attended the 1987 Jamboree in Australia, called it was “a lifetime experience.”
