Caltech Student Wins Achievement Award
Mike T. Chou of Caltech is one of 20 college juniors to receive the Time College Achievement Award sponsored by Time magazine.
Chou of Torrance, who will receive $3,000, wrote a software program that enabled him to study the acceleration process of solar flares.
His subsequent discoveries have “given astrophysicists new information in their struggle to understand how the sun actually works,” Time officials said.
The awards recognize and reward individual excellence in the nation’s most outstanding college juniors.
