SIMI VALLEY : 5 Men Hold Up Jewelry Store

Share

An undetermined amount of jewelry was stolen at gunpoint from a Simi Valley store, police said Sunday.

Five men, one armed with a handgun, walked into Zales Jewelers, 2914 Cochran St., at 3 p.m. Saturday and ordered the store manager to open a safe and several display cases. They loaded the jewelry into large plastic bags, said Police Lt. Neal Rein.

The store manager was not reported injured in the robbery. Rein said he did not know if any other employees or customers were present.

A witness reported the license number of the getaway car, which police later learned had been stolen in Los Angeles, Rein said.

Rein said the holdup was similar to an April 27 robbery in Thousand Oaks when three men walked into a Best Products store and held eight customers and employees at gunpoint while they took $100,000 worth of jewelry from display cases.
