From Times Wire Services

Tektronix Inc., Oregon’s largest high technology company, today disclosed a major restructuring that includes the elimination of 1,300 jobs, cutting its work force by almost 10%.

Tektronix said the moves will result in a one-time charge of about $70 million in the company’s fourth quarter that ended Saturday. The layoffs will be completed by August, said Tektronix, an oscilloscope and electronics equipment maker with annual sales of $1.4 billion.

Tektronix also announced plans to sell or close some of its “non-core” business activities in the test and measurement and non-television-related communications areas.
