DICKINSON, Tex. — Houston Oilers running back Mike Rozier and a friend were arrested early today after police said a shot was fired from a truck the two were riding in on Interstate 45.
Off-duty police officer Phil Tracy reported seeing a shot fired from a Nissan truck as it passed the officer on the freeway at 12:30 a.m.
Rozier, 29, was arrested after Tracy found a 9-millimeter revolver under the back seat of the truck where the football player was sitting. Rozier told Tracy he owned the gun, Dickinson police dispatcher Pam Campbell said.
His companion, Brent Flowers, 26, was charged with reckless conduct “after admitting that he was responsible for firing the weapon,” Campbell said.
Rozier and Flowers were booked into the Galveston County Jail at 3:30 a.m. and released within 20 minutes on bond, said Galveston County Deputy C. D. Heffernan.
