SHORT TAKES : Return of ‘Today’ Delayed Week

From Times Staff and Wire Service Reports

The debut of the latest incarnation of the “Today” show has been pushed back a week. Former baseball broadcaster Joe Garagiola, who was a co-host of the show from 1969 through 1973, and Faith Daniels, who was hired away from CBS, had been scheduled to start on “Today” Monday but that was delayed until June 11.

The move was made because the show will be broadcast from Washington, D.C., Monday through Wednesday and “Today” officials figured it would be too complicated to put on a road show and introduce new cast members at the same time.
