Tony-nominated actress Kathleen Turner is extending her stay on Broadway. Turner’s contract for “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” had been set to expire on July 8 but she’s re-upped through Aug. 1 . . . Dana Carvey of “Saturday Night Live” will no doubt do his George Bush immitation when he appears June 20 at the Kennedy Center in Washington in a fund-raiser for the Democratic Party. “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels will produce the show, which also will feature Gladys Knight, Crosby, Stills and Nash and the Gipsy Kings . . . Singer Tony Bennett will be getting animated next TV season. His cartoon alter ego will sing in an episode of “The Simpsons.” . . . In a network switch, ABC anchor Peter Jennings will appear on NBC’s “The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson” the night of June 13. . . . Vice President Dan Quayle will be interviewed by Bryant Gumbel Monday morning in the first half-hour of “Today,” which will be broadcasting from Washington. . . . Saturday night’s broadcast of CBS News’s “Saturday Night With Connie Chung” will be its last in that time slot. The program will be preempted through July and will return to the air in August on Monday nights, where it is due to air as “Face to Face With Connie Chung.” . . . In case you missed it, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday C-SPAN will rerun taped coverage of the Wellesley College commencement addresses of Barbara Bush and Raisa Gorbachev.
