South Pasadena on ‘Endangered’ List

South Pasadena has been placed on the 1990 list of America’s 11 most endangered historic places by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
The planned completion of the Long Beach (710) Freeway through South Pasadena would cut through five National Register historic districts and destroy 1,500 houses, the Washington-based organization said.
The other 10 places on the list: Antietam National Battlefield Park, Maryland; Columbus Landing Site, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands; Deadwood (S.D.) Historic District; Fort Frederica National Monument, St. Simons Island, Ga.
