The Rio Elementary School Board of Education in Oxnard has named Peter Rogalsky new superintendent of the 2,500-student district.

Rogalsky, 53, senior director of curriculum and instruction at Simi Valley Unified School District, will replace John McGarry, who is retiring.

Rogalsky has more than 31 years of experience in education as an elementary school teacher, a principal and in various district-level management positions. He is president of the regional office of the Assn. of California School Administrators, a group of 800 administrators representing schools in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.
