After meeting with Dave Gavitt, vice president of the Boston Celtics, Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski would say only that he would decide soon whether to remain a candidate to become Celtic coach.

Sources at Duke told The News and Observer of Raleigh, N.C., that Gavitt and Krzyzewski agreed to discuss the coaching job later this week, probably by telephone. Krzyzewski and Chris Ford, an assistant to recently fired Celtic coach Jimmy Rodgers, are believed to be the leading candidates for the position.
