It’s the stuff of nightmares--now it’s going to be a video game.

Activision announced today that it has purchased the licensing rights to two top box office creature features: “Aliens” and “Predator.” The result will be a matchup of the two in a new Nintendo game, Aliens vs. Predator, to be released for Christmas, 1991. “Not since Godzilla versus King Kong have such widely known creatures come together in a science-fiction conflict of this magnitude,” said Bruce L. Davis, chairman and CEO of Activision.

The timing, of course, is perfect. Twentieth Century Fox will be releasing sequels to both box office winners in the coming year.
