Air quality officials have postponed Friday’s hearing on toxic gas emissions at the Lopez Canyon Landfill.
It has been rescheduled to 10:30 a.m. June 14 at the South Coast Air Quality Management District headquarters, 9150 Flair Drive, El Monte.
At three previous hearings, residents and politicians who represent the Lake View Terrace area asked the district’s hearing board to close the Los Angeles city-operated dump until toxic gas emissions are controlled.
Doctors who treated several small children when they became ill after breathing fumes from the dump are expected to testify June 14. Los Angeles will also begin presenting its witnesses, including medical experts.
Friday’s meeting was postponed because of a death in the family of Deputy City Atty. Christopher Westhoff, who represents the city’s Bureau of Sanitation.
Hearing board members will tour the landfill June 15, officials said.
