Sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday asked for the public’s help in locating a man suspected of stabbing to death a woman in her apartment here.

Homicide detectives said they uncovered information allegedly linking Esteban Adolfo Ramirez, a 21-year-old baker from Santa Ana, to the May 29 murder of Ana Castellanos, 49.

A sheriff’s spokesman Wednesday declined to elaborate on the investigation or on Ramirez’s relationship with Castellanos.

Castellanos’ fully clothed body was found inside her apartment in the 25000 block of Farthing Street with stab wounds to her upper body.

“There were no obvious signs of a struggle and no signs of ransacking, or forced entry,” Sheriff’s Lt. Richard J. Olson said in a release.

Some physical evidence was collected at the crime scene and is being examined by forensic experts.

Olson said Castellanos was known as “a rather domineering individual” who had “confrontations with people who had lived (in the apartment).”

Ramirez did not live with Castellanos, he said.

The suspect is described as dangerous and may be driving a light green 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit with California license 2RQU497.

Anyone with information about Ramirez or his whereabouts is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Department at (714) 647-7000.
