Man Aiding Friend Also Dies of Heart Attack
Two 77-year-old men died of heart attacks within minutes of each other as one was trying to help his stricken friend, authorities said.
William Detrick died Wednesday after collapsing in the driveway of his neighbor, Jack Shearer. Detrick and his wife had been summoned by Sarah Shearer after her husband was stricken when sitting on his front porch.
Mrs. Detrick called an ambulance after her husband collapsed.
“When we got there, we found two people with cardiac arrests, instead of one like we thought,” an unidentified paramedic told the Beaver County Times.
