Grove Remembered
In the story about the cutting down of the olive trees, Arthur Ross explained that although the trees were gone, the name of the shopping center The Grove still made sense. In fact, he said “technically a grove can mean more than one thing, a grove of stores.”
Sorry Mr. Ross, but the word grove is not a synonym for the word “bunch” or “group.” Grove refers specifically to small woods, fruits, or nut trees. Words do have meanings.
