Bridge Over Czechoslovakia: Paul Simon made a plea to end racism and then launched into his classic “Bridge Over Troubled Water” at a concert in Prague, Czechoslovakia, to promote racial harmony. An estimated 10,000 people gathered at Prague’s historic Old Town Square to hear the concert. Simon, part of an international delegation in Czechoslovakia to monitor its elections, also treated the crowd to “Sounds of Silence” and “The Boxer.” Three concerts were held Saturday simultaneously in Prague, Paris and Moscow with pop stars from West and East in a crusade against racism.
