The managing editor of Entertainment Weekly magazine has resigned and been replaced by the executive editor of People magazine, Time Warner Inc. announced Monday.

Jeff Jarvis cited “creative differences” as his reason for leaving Entertainment Weekly, which Time Inc. launched in February. It provides reviews and information on television, movies, books, music and other forms of entertainment.

His replacement is James W. Seymore Jr., who joined Time in 1977 as an assistant editor of People. He rose through the ranks at the weekly celebrity magazine, becoming executive editor in 1988.
