Saldana Meets Attacker in Court, Breaks Down

Share

Actress Theresa Saldana sobbed Tuesday as she began testifying at a preliminary hearing in Los Angeles Municipal Court for an obsessed Scottish drifter who stabbed her eight years ago and now faces charges of threatening to try again to kill her.

“I’m afraid to talk in front of him,” said Saldana, 34, dabbing tears from her eyes. She was referring to her attacker, Arthur Richard Jackson, 53, who sat heavily shackled with bowed head.

Regaining her composure, Saldana testified that she took Jackson’s written death threats seriously. The defendant, paroled earlier this year on the attempted murder conviction, is behind bars again on 16 new felony counts stemming from threats contained in letters sent to the producer of a television show on which Saldana appeared.

The letters make repeated references to Jackson’s “divine mission” to kill “assassination target Theresa Saldana.”
