Selections from the Carnation Co. Collection, an exhibit of 37 contemporary California artists, will be at the Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena through July 8. The center, at 145 N. Raymond Ave., is open with free admission from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays.

The exhibition highlights art created in the 1980s and is representative of a variety of media, including sculpture, prints and photographs. This will be the only public showing of the collection before it is installed in the fall at Carnation’s new corporate headquarters in Glendale.

Among the items is Steven Dobbin’s 1988 “On the Other Hand,” left.

The Armory Center for the Arts is a result of education programs begun at Pasadena Art Museum 40 years ago. After the museum closed in 1974, it continued as an independent institution presenting innovative arts education programs to children throughout Southern California.
