Quake Scenario Comes True--Woo Breaks Leg

Share

Los Angeles City Councilman Michael Woo, who two months ago played the part of an earthquake victim who fell and broke his leg, has fallen down and broken his leg.

“It was Monday night,” Woo said Wednesday. “I was sprinting across Sunset Boulevard in the dark to Tower Records. My foot landed on a loose piece of concrete that appeared to have come off a piece of the curb. My foot turned. I had immediate pain but it wasn’t so terrible I had to go to the hospital.”

In fact, Woo, a lawmaker known for his patience, waited until Wednesday morning to visit the doctor.

His leg was placed in a plastic and Velcro device that can be taken off for bathing and sleeping. It will remain for two or three weeks.

“I don’t need crutches,” Woo said. “But I kind of stumble along and there’s a loud creaking noise. I can’t sneak around and surprise my staff as much.”
