Culver City : Council Protests Project
The City Council on Monday approved a letter to the city of Los Angeles, outlining harmful impacts the proposed Playa Vista development near Marina del Rey could have on the city’s air, noise level and traffic and other aspects of the environment.
Summa Corp. is planning more than 10,000 apartments and condominiums, 520,000 square feet of retail space, and almost 5 million square feet of office space on 957 acres between the Westchester Bluffs and Marina del Rey, according to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.
In its letter to the department, which is preparing an environmental impact report on Playa Vista, the council asked that the report include analyses on carbon monoxide concentrations from increased traffic, noise from traffic and heliports, sewage impact on the Hyperion Treatment Plant, and traffic congestion at 26 intersections in Culver City.
The council approved the letter by a 4-0 vote, with Councilman Jim Boulgarides absent.
