Check Comp Rental Cars in Hawaii

If you are planning a trip to Hawaii, look into one of the programs that offers complimentary rental cars when you book rooms--including some condominiums--at regular rates.

The deals generally include unlimited mileage, though you may face refueling charges if you don’t bring the cars back with a full tank. Insurance and other coverages are optional.

The cars are usually automatic compacts and subcompacts, and may come equipped with air-conditioning.

Outrigger Hotels has a Free Ride program covering 21 hotels in Waikiki, and one each on Kauai and the Big Island. This program, in conjunction with Dollar Rent A Car, runs until Dec. 19.

Hawaiian Pacific Resorts has a car/room program until Dec. 22 at seven properties in Honolulu and Maui and on the Big Island. Cars are provided by Budget Rent A Car.

Colony Hotels & Resorts provides a Budget car as part of its continuing Paradise on Wheels program at 14 properties throughout the islands until Dec. 22.

Aston Hotels & Resorts has begun a policy of offering Budget cars for $9 per day if you pay the regular rate, at 29 of its Hawaiian properties.

Budget is also offering discount coupon booklets that come with any type of car rented and for any length of rental. There are different booklets for each of the four major islands--Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island of Hawaii, plus Molakai.

The discounts include coupons to sightseeing attractions, restaurants and various merchandise at participating stores.

The discount booklet on Oahu contains the largest number of coupons. Among the attractions offering discounts are the Polynesian Cultural Center, Aikane Catamaran Cruise, Sea Life Park and Waimea Falls Park.
