Paint Firms Say Air Rules Actually Add to Pollution

Share

A lawyer for a group of paint companies has urged a judge to lift restrictions on how paints are mixed, saying that the regulations imposed by a regional air-quality agency create greater pollution.

Twenty-one companies filed suit alleging that the South Coast Air Quality Management District failed to assess the potential harm to the environment in adopting the restrictions and that the rules reduce the quality of paints.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Yaffe scheduled additional arguments on the matter July 16.
