CAMARILLO : Panel OKs Housing Complex by Creek

Share

The Camarillo Planning Commission on Tuesday approved a 126-unit housing development on a site west of Calleguas Creek between Flynn Road and Avenida Acaso.

The City Council has final say over the 51-acre project, which would include a 16-acre community park and a four-acre parcel for the construction of a city police headquarters along Flynn Road.

Because the project is expected to have some effect on Calleguas Creek, a study relating to drainage from the development must be completed before final construction approval. In addition to city approval, the county flood control department and the state Fish and Game Department must approve the plan.

If the project is approved, Pardee Construction Co. would still have to apply for some of the 400 building permits issued annually under the city’s growth-control ordinance.

Applications for 907 housing units have been made by various developers who are vying for the 400 units that will be allocated.
