Cat lovers, consider Rollmate, a new vinyl cover that keeps your frivolous feline from tearing up the toilet paper or pulling it through the house.
Rollmate was invented by a Dan Geller, a San Franciscan who scoured pet stores to find such a product in 1988, when his family got a cat named Tova. “There was nothing out there to help us, so I decided to create a solution,” he said.
Many cat owners can relate to Geller’s plight. “As soon as she discovered the toilet paper,” he explained, “Tova started unrolling it all the way to the last piece. And then she would drag the paper all over the house and shred it to pieces.”
Geller has researched the pet industry and found that “one out of every four cats unravels toilet paper, and with over 55 million cats in the U.S., it comes out to about 19 million cats.”
The white cover slips easily over a roll and fits most dispensers. It comes in several colors and designs, one with a red slash--the international sign for “no”--superimposed over a black cat, the other with two cats--in blue, red or black--facing each other.
